Wishes on the occasion of the International Day of Nurses and Midwives

Ladies and gentlemen! / Heads of municipal medical institutions!

On May 12, we once again celebrate the International Day of Nurses and Midwives - a special day for the entire medical community, especially in the difficult situation of the COVID-19 epidemic in which we have been operating for several months.

I would like to express to you all, to the whole team of nurses and midwives, my cordial wishes for health, perseverance, patience and unwavering strength in fulfilling your daily mission. Your profession is not only daily work for the benefit of patients. It is also a form of mission, which requires not only high qualifications and skills related to medical progress, but also some certain predisposition and empathy. Nurses and midwives are people who are fully committed to working with patients and are indispensable assistants for doctors.

This is a very important professional group of health workers, which is appreciated for its qualifications, competence and complexity of everyday work, often at the risk of their own safety.

On this occasion, I want to sincerely thank the nurses and midwives, who are your subordinates, for such difficult, responsible and much-needed work. I also wish you personal and professional satisfaction, and what is the most important and most motivating - the gratitude of Warsaw patients.

Paweł Rabiej
Deputy Mayor of City of Warsaw
