Prevention of cardiovascular diseases

According to the report of the National Health Fund, as many as 10 million adult Poles have hypertension.
Untreated hypertension can lead to strokes, ischemic heart disease, heart and kidney failure.
Our lifestyle influences the development of cardiovascular disease. poor nutrition, sedentary lifestyle, alcohol consumption, smoking, stress.
Take care of your health. Bet on prevention. To prevent heart disease:
  • Lead an active and hygienic lifestyle
  • Change your diet - increase the proportion of vegetables and fruit in your diet
  • Maintain a balance between work and rest
  • Maintain a healthy weight
  • Control your blood pressure
  • Limit alcohol consumption
  • Give up smoking
  • Perform preventive examinations
During the Heart Week, the National Health Fund reminds you about the possibility of taking advantage of the cardiovascular disease prevention program (CHUK). Tests can be performed once every 5 years in any primary health care clinic under the National Health Fund.
The cardiovascular disease prevention program is for you if you meet the following conditions:
  • You are between 35 and 65 years old
  • You do not have cardiovascular disease, diabetes, chronic kidney disease or familial hypercholesterolemia
  • You have not participated in the examinations within this program in the last 5 years
