KCPU

We are pleased to announce that in January we have launched a unique project that will provide help and support to people who are normally overlooked by society.

SZPZLO Warszawa – Ochota, in cooperation with the National Centre for Addiction Prevention (KCPU), is implementing the project entitled "Psychological Assistance for Deaf People with Problem Drinking or Alcohol Dependence and Their Relatives".
We realize that there is a lack of places in Poland where deaf people can seek help, so we address this inequality and offer psychological care for deaf problem drinkers and their loved ones from all over Poland. This unique initiative will provide real support to deaf people.

An experienced psychologist will conduct sessions both in-person and online to provide care to everyone who needs it.

We are pleased that SZPZLO Warszawa – Ochota can be part of such important activities and contribute to improving the quality of life of deaf people struggling with alcohol problems and their loved ones. We know how important it is to feel understood and to be able to use sign language support or support tailored to individual communication needs. That's why our specialists have experience working with deaf people and provide safe and comfortable conversation conditions.

If you or someone you love needs help, please don't hesitate to contact us.

The aim of the programme is to provide access to psychological assistance for deaf people in solving problems related to alcohol use, in situations where communication difficulties exist that prevent access to the full range of psychotherapy services for deaf people in addiction treatment facilities.

The following forms of support are provided as part of the task:

  • psychological assistance for deaf people who drink harmful alcohol/are addicted to alcohol, in the field of changing harmful behaviors, in PJM/SJM sign language (face-to-face or online meetings);
  • providing consultations for deaf people in close relationships with an addicted person, aimed at solving problems related to this relationship, in the PJM/SJM sign language (in the form of face-to-face or online meetings), carrying out assistance activities for deaf beneficiaries of the project (assistance in writing letters, contacts with institutions, assistance facilities), including translation services into Polish/PJM/SJM for the needs of the beneficiaries of the project, to the extent necessary to solve alcohol-related problems;
  • implementation of translation services into Polish/PJM/SJM for the needs of beneficiaries of the project in contact, e.g. with a psychiatrist, if such a visit is related to helping a deaf person solve alcohol problems;
  • providing translation services into Polish/PJM/SJM in contacts between a deaf person and an addiction treatment facility.

Stationary assistance will be provided at the Alcohol Addiction and Co-Addiction Therapy Clinic of the SZPZLO Warsaw - Ochota, at ul. Skarżyńskiego 1.
